As an experienced Big Island elopement expert, I’m going to divulge a little secret. Hint, it’s about my favorite Hawai’i Island beach wedding location. When couples choose to get married on the very unique Island of Hawaii (a.k.a. The Big Island) has its perks. We have space, we have lava and in Kona, we are on the West Side. This translates to gorgeous sunsets and stunning views! But there is one park that stands out as a true gem – Kikaua Point Park. If you’re planning a Big Island elopement, this might be the perfect location for you!
There is a reason this location is our favorite! This little gem of a public beach offers variety, wonderful privacy and stunning views. With the accessibility to literally have your wedding right at the water’s edge, it’s amazing for couples who desire the “toes in the sand” experience. You also have the ability to choose to hold your ceremony on lava rock, in a palm grove or under gorgeous trees. We refer to this location as “Billionaire’s Row”, where some of the biggest names in tech and Hollywood own vacation homes. The security may be a little tighter when entering this beach venue but luckily it’s a public beach where we can pull a permit for your wedding. It’s the best of both worlds. The beach is immaculate and offers much more privacy as parking is limited. It’s always my fav!
We had the BEST time with Sarah and Lexy on their wedding day! They chose an all-inclusive Big Island elopement package through Big Island Officiant, which includes photography with Big Island Elopement Photographer, Dawn Eicher. We met them at the stunning Kikaua Point Park. My husband Mike was their officiant and when they arrived, we let them choose their preferred ceremony location – right on the water’s edge in the sand. It was perfect! The two of them exchanged vows, gave one another beautiful rings (one of which was engraved with the coordinates of where they met – so romantic!) They then sealed it all with a kiss just before sunset. I then took them for some super fun golden hour photos. I feel like I was laughing until my stomach hurt. Take a peek at their gorgeous, love-filled gallery. I want to say ONE more thing about this wedding. We are truly honored to be allies and support the LGBTQ community. The idea that any couple could face discrimination is awful and we were so happy to support our same sex couples in every way possible. Our stance is love is love, period.
We wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love. Both Mike and I were so honored to have been a part of your day. It could not have been more wonderful! Hopefully you will send your friends our way to plan their very own Big Island Elopement. Please come back and visit too. Cheers!
